Grammar Patterns
V/A-stem + (으)시 + ending Subject Honorific ~(으)시 動詞・形容詞の語幹と語尾の間に~(으)시を入れ、動作の主体（主語）を高める。子音の後は으시、母音の後は시。해요体では~(으)세요になる。主語が目上の人のときに使う。
선생님이 책을 읽으세요. — The teacher reads a book.

있다→계시다, 먹다→드시다, 자다→주무시다 Special Honorific Verbs 一部の動詞は~(으)시を付けず、全く別の敬語形を持つ。主なもの：있다→계시다、먹다/마시다→드시다・잡수시다、자다→주무시다、죽다→돌아가시다、말하다→말씀하시다。これらは特殊形を使う。
부모님은 거실에 계세요. — My parents are in the living room.

사장님께 보고서를 드렸어요. — I gave the report to the CEO.
