Lee Byung-hun anchors the series with a restrained, melancholic gravity, while a then-rising Kim Tae-ri delivers a fierce, luminous presence as Go Ae-shin; the love-triangle and ensemble work of Yoo Yeon-seok, Byun Yo-han, and Kim Min-jung lends the narrative emotional dimension.
